Blueberry production began in El Fuerte in 2010. Currently, more communities have joined in this cultivation, and for this reason Sinaloa exports the product to the United States, Canada and other countries of the world.
Mayor Gildardo Leyva Ortega emphasized that the production of blueberries is a great source of employment for families in the municipality, but due to its growth in recent years, people from the municipalities of Choix and Ahome also come to El Fuerte to work in the field or the packaging.
The interest of people in working in the blueberry production chain is due to the fact that companies offer good working conditions, which they will hardly be able to find elsewhere.
Gildardo Leyva revealed that the growth of blueberry production in the agricultural fields of El Fuerte continues to increase, so that, in the coming years, Sinaloa will continue to be one of the states in Mexico with the highest export of this product to the foreign.
