Balandran Operational Center (30)

France: National Strawberry Day returns to CTIFL on February 22

The National Strawberry Day will take place at the Balandran Operational Center in the Gard department on February 22. This day is aimed at “all players of the sectors”, but especially at producers of strawberries, in and above ground,” explains Justine Garnodier, an experimental engineer at CTIFL. The objective is to be able to “meet professionals of the sector, address phytosanitary issues and the latest news on experimentation.” This event is highly anticipated since the previous National Strawberry Day was held 9 years ago at the CTIFL experimentation center of Carquefou (Loire-Atlantique).

With more than 150 participants already registered for the event, the National Strawberry Day should gather a total of nearly 200 participants.

The day will include several highlights, including a round table on “Offering quality fruit from selection to production, which will bring together breeders, producers and distributors. There will also be conferences in the afternoon, on the protection of strawberry plants against insects, mushrooms, and soil diseases. In the evening, the participants will continue to exchange ideas around dinner and drinks, and the morning after, they will be able to attend trial visits in the fields, discover new varieties, and exchange on current events related to energy. There will be a presentation of trials on the sterile insect technique as well, as part of the protection against the Drosophila Suzukii fly.

Nurserymen, plant breeders, greenhouse producers and biocontrol suppliers will be available all day on February 22.
