Peru blueberry imports through Philadelphia and New York City expected to decrease

As riots continue in Peru, the southern growing regions are under direct violent attacks from masked people. Sadly, it has spread to farms and critical government inspection services. According to the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (Agap) it estimates about $200 million in losses in the Ica, Arequipa, and La Libertad regions alone.

Peru imports of blueberries through Philadelphia and New York City area ports of entry movement expected to decrease as most growers are finished for the season. Trading moderate for fairly light supplies. Prices lower. Flats 12 1-pint cups with lids large 20.00-24.00. Quality variable. Movement of blueberries through Arizona, California and Texas is expected to increase. Trading is early moderate, late active. Prices 6-ounce cups slightly higher, pints generally unchanged. Flats 12 1-pint cups with lids mostly 20.00-22.00. Flats 12 6-ounce cups with lids mostly 14.00. Quality generally good. Chile's imports of blueberries through various east coast ports of entry movement are expected to increase as the harvest increases.

Movement of avocado crossings from Mexico through Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading 32-40s fairly slow, others moderate. Prices 60-70s lower, others generally unchanged.

Movement of cucumbers from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected about the same. Trading active with prices generally unchanged. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium 30.95-32.95, large mostly 28.95-30.95, fair quality 26.95-27.95. Available supplies fairly light. Most present shipments from prior bookings and/or previous commitments. Quality variable.
