Spanish zucchini exports decrease by almost 22% while purchases of Moroccan zucchini increased by more than 33%

Spanish zucchini exports in the first eleven months of 2022 registered a considerable decrease over the same period of the previous year. According to Hortofinfo, in that period, Spanish zucchini sales abroad fell by 90.05 million kilos, i.e., 21.93%, going from 410.68 million kilos in 2021 to 320.62 million kilos last year.

The revenues obtained from these exports increased by 22.14% year-on-year, from 362.02 million euros in the first eleven months of 2021 to 442.18 million in the same period of 2022, as the price at which Spain exported zucchini in that period increased by 56.35% to € 1.38/kg.

However, in that same period, Spain purchased a total of 10.93 million kilos of zucchini from Morocco; i.e., 2.74 million kilos (+33.45%) more than in the same period of 2021, for a value of 11.06 million euros (+56.66%).

The price of the zucchini imported from Morocco increased by 17.4%, from 0.88 euro per kilo in the aforementioned period of 2021 to 1.38 euro per kilo in the same period of 2022.
