According to the results of December 2022, prices for fresh vegetables in Kazakhstan increased by almost 20% over the year.
Cucumbers (by 47.9% ), onions, tomatoes, potatoes, and beets sharply increased in price. Prices for carrots decreased by 0.8% over the year, white cabbage fell by 15.2%.
As for the import of vegetables, the import of peppers, cucumbers, and gherkins, garlic, gourds, cabbage, and tomatoes to the Republic of Kazakhstan has noticeably increased. At the same time, imports of potatoes, onions, carrots, eggplants, and table beet decreased.
In the vegetable export segment, supplies from Kazakhstan to foreign markets of peppers, table beets, melons, carrots, onions, and garlic increased. The export of cabbage, cucumbers and gherkins, tomatoes, and eggplants has decreased.
It should be noted that in terms of the main types of vegetables, imports to the Republic of Kazakhstan are many times greater than exports from the republic. And only the export of potatoes exceeded imports by 2.9 times.
