Ortoflorovivaistica dei Fratelli Simonato is a leading company in the production of organic aromatic herbs, which are grown and sold all year round. In particular, it produces basil, sage, parsley, chives, rosemary, mint, oregano, marjoram, thyme, dill, lemon balm, coriander, cress, chervil, chamomile, lavender, and licorice.

"We are carefully observing how climate is changing, as it sometimes requires modifying well-established cultivation methods such as the transplant times, as they are increasingly affected by the high temperatures of the period. Sometimes our greenhouses are hit by glorious sunshine, which, even though it helps us reduce heating costs, makes us wonder what season we are in. 2022 was, in fact, the eighth consecutive year with temperatures exceeding pre-industrial levels by over 1 degree Celsius, as reported by Global Climate Highlights 2022 di Copernicus, the EU's Earth Observation Program," concludes Rosanna Bertoldini.
The history of the company
The company is located in Due Carrare (PD) and owns 40,000 sq m of greenhouses in total. It is one of the leading domestic producers of organic aromatic herbs.
Set up in the first half of the 1900s, this entrepreneurial project has reached its third generation of entrepreneurs. It started the conversion to organic production methods in 1997 and obtained the BIO certification issued by Istituto Certificazione Etica Ambientale – ICEA in 2000.
