Do you want up-to-date German retail fruit and vegetable prices every Monday morning? Now you can, with crowdsourcing platform Roamler's new price check. It will be doing this at the top ten German retailers across Germany. This pilot project launched this morning.
Between 7:00 and 10:15 a.m., some 80 German stores were visited, and prices, promotions, and country of origin of the relevant fruit and vegetable products were checked. Starting in March, subscribers will receive these results in their mailbox on Mondays by 11:30 a.m. at the latest.
"It's quite challenging, timing-wise," says Christiaan Rijnhout. "But, given the enthusiasm, I definitely expect us to do these weekly visits by March. We've selected 14 products, from bananas to berries and bell peppers to cucumbers. Most of these are conventional products, except for bananas and ginger, where we also check the organic varieties' prices. We can always adjust this selection if it seems our subscribers need price checks on other products."
"We're starting in Germany, and if that goes well, we'll soon follow that with checks in British and French stores. It gives our subscribers a knowledge advantage. They're the first to know the weekly prices and can immediately respond with their pricing," explains Christiaan.
