Bonnysa's banana and its fresh and natural grated tomato were awarded the Flavor of the Year award

The Alicante company Bonnysa started 2023 by obtaining the Flavor of the Year award for two of its products. The company's banana, which it grows in Tenerife and which it presented for the first time to this award, achieved one of the highest scores for this product. On the other hand, its fresh and natural grated tomato was awarded this distinction for the fourth consecutive year, positioning itself -once again- as the favorite of consumers.

Bonnysa has been producing bananas on its El Fraile estate since 1998. The company grows over 10 million kilos, making it one of the largest independent producers of bananas in the Canary Islands. Little by little, the company specialized in this crop using their own techniques and the best infrastructure, such as a unique guide wire system in Europe, which allows minimal handling from the tree to the warehouse. In addition to the facilities in the south of Tenerife, the company has ripening rooms on the peninsula.

"Receiving this news was great. It confirms the strategy undertaken by the company years ago, with which we wanted to specialize greatly in each crop, guaranteeing a singular flavor that would make our products unique. The Taste of the Year award is a recognition of all our hard work. It will help boost sales together with the Minions license project that we'll carry out this year to position Bonnysa's banana as one of the benchmarks in the fruit and vegetable sector. Our bananas were awarded the Flavor of the Year label and three stars in the Taste Award, which makes it the most awarded banana in Europe,” stated the commercial director of Bonnysa, Jorge Ignacio Brotons.

The company's fresh and natural grated tomato was awarded this distinction for another consecutive year. The company launched this product in 2006 and, over the years, it has positioned itself as must purchase product among consumers, and the brand is recognized by two-thirds of consumers.

“Passing this annual consumer exam has helped us to maintain a very high product quality. Its flavor and values must remain intact; a real complex challenge when producing a 100% fresh and natural product. We only use tomatoes at their optimal point. There are no other ingredients that allow to accentuate or deter flavors. The only way of achieving the results we demand and that are highly valued by consumers is by using exceptional raw materials,” Brotons stated.
