Pakistan growers advised to shield their mango trees from the cold

Pakistani agricultural experts have advised mango farmers to take immediately measures to save their plants from severe cold. On Tuesday, a spokesman of Agriculture (Extension) Department said that cold was injurious to mango plants especially during frost days. This means that the farmers should remain alert and ensure proper watering to their mango orchards repeatedly during the winter season.

The spokesman added that drought as well as a temperature of -4 degrees could badly affect the mango trees. Larger trees might have sufficient immunity and should be less affected during winter, he added. Despite this, he advised growers to immediately contact the agronomists or field staff for further guidance in this regard.
