Imports of Thai fruits at Qingdao port increased by more than 40%

Recently, at the fully automated container terminal of Qingdao Port, Shandong, 5.5 tons of longan and young coconut produced in Thailand were unloaded and sent to the Huangdao Customs Imported Fruit Inspection Platform of Qingdao Customs. Half an hour later, these fruits completed the supervision procedures and set off for the large fruit trading markets in surrounding provinces and cities.

Qingdao Port, Shandong is the largest reefer container loading port in China. Imported fresh fruits mainly come from Thailand, Indonesia and other RCEP member countries of the RECP Agreement.

Qingdao Customs assists the port in comprehensively deploying the "Belt and Road" and RCEP advantageous route groups. It has opened direct routes to Thailand's Laem Chabang Port and Bangkok Port 13 times a week. High-quality imported fruits from Thailand can arrive at Qingdao Port in only 7 days.

Since the outbreak, in order to ensure the smooth customs clearance of imported fruits, Qingdao Customs has launched a new mode of "inspection without meeting". Fruit importers and agents do not need to be present to assist in the inspection, but only need to wait for the results online.

The logistics channel is smoother, customs clearance and supervision are more convenient, and more varieties and high-quality Thai fruits enter the Chinese market through the Qingdao port, which not only serves the economic and trade exchanges between the two countries but also promotes industrial development and ensures the market supply. According to statistics from Qingdao Customs, in the first 10 months of this year, Qingdao Port imported a total of 23,400 tons of Thai fruits, a year-on-year increase of 41.54%.
