The market trend for ferrous materials appears to be improving, especially with steel, after months in which prices had reached dramatic values. There is thus a march back in quotations, which is also having positive repercussions in the agricultural sector, with a resumption, albeit modest, of quotations for new greenhouse fabrications.
"We launched this novelty on the heels of the raw material shortage crisis. After the completion of some installations in Basilicata, we received dozens of requests from different regions while prices began to rise inexorably. Many entrepreneurs thus decided to postpone the investment until calmer times. Recently, however, these same businesses have been asking us for updated quotes after the decrease in material prices. This is an inspiring sign of recovery, just weeks before the end of 2022," said Antonio Carrera, Combimetal Carrera's technical manager and creator of the innovative umbrella structure ideal for kiwifruit.
The one designed by Combimetal Carrera is a greenhouse with a height at the ridge of 3.90 meters, made entirely of steel, with 33, 50, and 60 mm hot-dip galvanized tubes, and 6- and 10-mm cables, 1.95 m high from the ground, necessary for scaffolding and thus for tying branches.
"The umbrella structure ensures that the plant is completely protected and the root system dry, with optimal consequences in terms of production and quality," continued Carrera. The fruits do not touch each other during growth, and harvesting operations are facilitated. The climatic conditions created under the greenhouse allow the plant to grow rapidly. The umbrella structure under the Combimetal Carrera brand is very stable and resistant to the most extreme weather events, as the steel tubes are buried at a depth of about 60 cm. "It is able to withstand both the load of the mesh and the thermoplastic film. In addition, it is especially suited for new kiwi cultivars, such as yellow and red ones.
