AV550 by GNA: "Fast, versatile and easy to use"

"Once adjusted, set, and tested, the machine is easy to use and adapts to the size of the vegetables to be packaged," reports Christopher Bernardi, production supervisor at Bernardi Srl, about flow pack machine AV550 by GNA srl, which the company has been using since December 2021.

Set up in 1953 in the heart of Romagna and, more precisely, in Rimini, Bernardi srl and Azienda Agricola Bernardi specialize in the production and processing of fresh produce. With over sixty years of experience, they are a point of reference for high-quality wholesale produce.

Bernardi takes care of processing and packaging down to the tiniest detail. "AV550 is used for the entire brassica range - cauliflowers, broccoli, cabbages, sauerkrauts - and for mini-packets with a fixed weight of 2.5 kg with heat-shrink film. In addition, we also use it for salads with pierced bags and, upon request, for more niche lines of one or two vegetables with heat-shrink film."

GNA reports that machines such as AV550 are born precisely to package loose products without the need for containers, and they can use various types of materials such as flow packs and heat-shrink films.

"The machine is fast and versatile: compared with manual processing, it doubles production in the same unit of time, and it can be used with different materials. It is a specific machine for a specific purpose, but it also adapts to our needs, especially when it comes to cauliflowers: it features, in fact, a second belt on the top part - a specific accessory for round products - that improves processing and prevents the heads from rolling and getting damaged."

The safety and maintenance manager at Bernardi Srl adds that "we receive ordinary and extraordinary assistance for the machine, which is very quick and efficient. In this case, our geographic proximity is an additional advantage. Every six months or so, GNA technicians perform ordinary operations while, in the case of specific anomalies, they take care of repairs. So far, we have not witnessed a downtime we had not planned."
