Germany seizes cocaine valued at $44.3M in Ecuadorian banana shipment

A total of 635 kg of cocaine worth $44.3 million was seized by German customs officials after it was found among a container of bananas shipped from Ecuador. 

The wrapped packages of cocaine were found wedged between bananas, which came from Ecuador to Germany via the Dutch port of Vlissingen. It was found on 27 October, 2022, by employees of an import company in Duisburg, western Germany, who opened the container with the unexpected find. They notified customs officials who confirmed the street value.
