The B.C. cranberry harvest season is nearing completion and the crop is looking great. “We are wrapping up another successful harvest,” says Kalpna Solanki, chair of the BC Cranberry Marketing Commission. “Yields are a bit lower than last year however, fruit quality is excellent.”
Ocean Spray is a grower cooperative and 95 percent of B.C.’s growers are part of the Ocean Spray cooperative. Other than fresh, B.C. cranberries can be found in many products from juice to sweetened dried cranberries known as Craisins. Consumers can also purchase direct from grower vendors at The Bog, Yellow Point Cranberries and Hopcott Farms. While The Bog is closed for the season, its cranberries and products can be found in specialty grocery stores.

Cranberries are available year-round and whether fresh, frozen, dried or in juice form. Fresh cranberries can last for quite a while--they will keep fresh for three to four weeks in the refrigerator, and up to 12 months in the freezer.
The BC Cranberry Marketing Commission (BCCMC) has been a part of B.C. cranberry farming since 1968. The BCCMC supports the industry by providing funding and oversight for various research projects, producer professional development and cranberry promotion.
