The campaign of Spanish citrus fruit hasn’t really started yet, according to José Martinez of Enbata Fruits. The company specializes in the marketing of Spanish fruit in France. “Because of the drought and the heatwaves, the season started a lot later this year. At the moment, we only have clementines and the volumes are very limited.”
According to José, the volumes are 30% smaller than last year for both clementines and oranges. And this will be the case for the entire campaign. In Morocco, the volumes will be limited as well. “Additionally, with the increasing cost of packaging and electricity, citrus fruit prices will also be higher. What we could buy for 1€ [0.99 USD] last year will cost 1.30€ [1.28 USD] this year. It remains to be seen whether the final consumer is willing to pay the price in this inflationary context that poses challenges for everyone.”
In terms of quality, there is no problem. “All the fruits present a great quality.” The citrus fruits are sold by Enbata Fruits under the brand Rosita.
Grapefruit, also marketed under the brand Rosita
