Guangzhou Nansha International Logistics Center officially launched the cold chain import business

On October 25th, a cold chain container truck loaded with Thai coconut, longan, and other commodities entered Guangzhou Nansha International Logistics Center, marking the official launch of the cold chain import business of the South District Cold Chain Project at the Center. This is the largest single cold storage unit in China.

The goods are the first batch of imported cold chain goods after Guangzhou Nansha International Cold Chain Co., Ltd. officially obtained the approval of the General Administration of Customs for the opening of the cold chain project.

"After the official operation of the project, the inspection of 162 imported cold chain containers will be carried out at the same time. The inspection efficiency will be greatly improved, and the inspection and processing capacity of goods per unit time will be nearly tripled", said Dong Lei, the Executive Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Nansha International Cold Chain Co., Ltd.

Nansha Port has opened 182 liner routes, including 150 foreign trade liner routes. Here, goods can be quickly distributed and transferred through sea-rail combined transportation, water-water transfer, and sea-land combined transportation. The launch of the Nansha Cold Chain Project will greatly enhance the logistics efficiency and agglomeration capacity of the Greater Bay Area.

According to reports, as an important part of Guangzhou Port Group to build an international shipping logistics hub and an international cold chain distribution center, the cold chain project in the southern district of Guangzhou Nansha International Logistics Center covers an area of 208,000 square meters, with a planned cold storage capacity of 460,000 tons. The project has built 3 cold storages with a storage capacity of 227,000 tons. The area of the special storage yard for cold storage is about 54,600 square meters. It is currently the largest single cold storage in China. After fully completed, it can import and export 10,000 TEUs of cold chain goods every month.

The project is adjacent to Guangzhou Port Nansha Port Area, one of the important hub ports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The surrounding logistics infrastructure is complete, the sources of goods are abundant, and the logistics demand is strong. A series of value-added supporting services such as inspection, centralized warehouses, and storage can be completed in the port area. The customs clearance efficiency and transportation route are fast and excellent, and it will become the most comprehensive cold chain logistics base in South China.

At present, there are more than 50 types of fresh cold-chain products imported through Nansha, most of which are seasonal durians, mangosteens, cherries, and other fruits.
