Neil Barker - BGP International

"We use this as an opportunity for our clients to meet the growers and discuss how to improve the business"

The BGP International stand is a familiar sight at Asia Fruit Logistica and they will be present in Bangkok. The company ships produce into all of the Asian markets, with Hong Kong and China being the largest ones followed by Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines.

The markets are supplied from partners in Australia, USA, New Zealand, South Africa, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan and Spain.

"Our main citrus brands are Ironbark from Australia, Soleil from South Africa, Okay, El Gebaly and El Mougrahbi from Egypt, Menas from Turkey and Shaheen from Pakistan," said Neil Barker founder of BGP International.

The challenges we have been facing are shipping problems and transit delays which are causing significant losses. We now have to be far more careful about the strength of the product we ship in anticipation of delays and in some instances we are refusing to ship because of transport risks."

Joining BGP on the booth will be their major supply partners, "We use this as an opportunity for our clients to meet the growers and discuss how to improve the business. The exhibition also provides the opportunity for Executive Assistants to meet and talk directly to both suppliers and clients."
