Mangoes affected by the high temperatures in the governorate

Climate change is affecting mango crop in Aswan this year

Among the many fruits grown around the Egyptian city of Aswan is the mango, which is the first fruit to go to the market during the summer season. The village of Fares in particular is famous for the best types of mangoes because it is located away from industrial pollutants, and near the Nile River.

A mango grower and merchant in Aswan spoke about climate change and how it affected the production of the mango crop this year, especially after the end of the mango season. He said that the Aswan mango is affected by the high temperatures in the governorate, which caused its rapid ripening and became the first crop to come down in the markets before the rest of the other governorates, as it begins to harvest starting in June of each year.

A mango farmer in the village of Fares, affiliated to the Kom Ombo Center in Aswan Governorate, added that the village of Fares is one of the most famous villages in Egypt for mango cultivation, as it is the first crop of the village, ensuring that the clean environment of the village that is free from environmental and industrial pollutants makes it distinctive.
