Egyptian oranges enjoy favorable market conditions in China after two years of depression

Import oranges from Egypt are delicious as fresh snacks, but they are also widely used in restaurants and beverage shops. That is why there is a lot of attention for the market conditions of Egyptian oranges. Conditions were rather poor in 2020 and 2021, but this year is different. The price is quite stable. Mr. Don Lu of Shenzhen Yuanxing Fruit Co., Ltd recently talked about current market conditions of Egyptian oranges.

Mr. Don Lu first compared this year with previous years. "The product quality of Egyptian oranges is quite good this year. The price dropped slightly from 100 yuan [13.95 USD] per box to 90 yuan [12.55 USD] per box. The price reached a peak in late June and early July when Egyptian oranges cost around 250 yuan [34.86 USD] per box for the brands that we manage, and the average market price was around 230-240 yuan [32.07-33.47 USD] per box. Even medium-quality oranges sold for around 210 yuan [29.29 USD] per box. Around this time last year the price was only 50-80 yuan [6.97-11.16 USD] per box, and product movement was troublesome. The market has greatly improved compared to last year. In terms of price, product movement, and profit margin, everything is ideal this year."

Mr. Don Lu explained that the changes have to do with delivery volume, commercial knowledge, and product quality. "Sales conditions were not great two years ago, so the delivery volume declined last year. However, the delivery volume was still too big and market conditions did not improve. After two years of market depression, a large number of traders withdrew from the Egyptian orange market.

"This year the delivery volume is 60%-70% smaller than last year. Second, traders kept their Egyptian oranges in cold storage in the hope that the price would go up, but at the end of the season the product quality was much worse and retail was difficult. This year the traders have learned from their mistakes. They sell as soon as the oranges arrive, so the product quality is much better. Third, traders are more experienced now and only select top-quality Egyptian oranges, so the average product quality is much higher this year, especially in the second half of the season when the flavor is more mature. That is incidentally also the quiet season for domestic oranges, which further stimulates Egyptian orange sales."

Shenzhen Yuanxing Fruit Co., Ltd is active throughout the country in wholesale markets, mid- and high-end retail markets, and large-scale beverage shops to satisfy demand for Egyptian oranges.
