The former president at the head of Bonduelle, the family business that has become such a large player in processed vegetables, died on Friday September 16. Aged 89, the emblematic boss of the North died at his home in Marcq-en-Barœul.
Bruno Bonduelle was in charge of the group between 1985 and 1994, before becoming an emblematic figure in the Lille area. He was president of the CCI Lille Métropole between 2004 and 2010, after having co-founded and then headed the Grand Lille Committee, an employers’ association. Trained at Sciences Po Paris, Bruno Bonduelle decided, once at the head of Bonduelle, to set up the headquarters of the family business in Villeneuve-d’Ascq. He struggled to internationalize the group, which is now present in nearly 19 countries around the world.
The Bonduelle company today employs nearly 14,500 people worldwide, including 4,600 in France, recalls La Voix du Nord. The agri-food group, which saw its turnover increase very slightly during its 2021-2022 financial year, warned on August 1 that it would not achieve its objectives due to the increase in its production costs. which affects the whole of the economic world, but also of its inherent difficulties in its fresh activities in America.
