Domestic fruits dominant the Mid-Autumn Festival market

Chinese fruit is becoming a new selling point in the international fruit market

The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, and buying Mid-Autumn gifts has been put on the agenda again. The Mid-Autumn Festival coincides with the autumn fruit harvest season, and all kinds of fruit gift boxes are lined up one after another in the market, waiting for consumers to buy.

At this time in previous years, imported fruits basically dominated the market. All kinds of imported fruits rushed to enter the hot sale period. Whether it was wholesale or retail gift boxes, prices and sales rose. However, among the domestic fruits, the newly-launched Fujian red pomelo, Sichuan and Yunnan pomegranates, and local sunshine roses are in their best season this year. They are displayed in conspicuous positions that used to belong to the imported fruits, and they are replacing imported fruits as the leading products in the market.

The imported fruit is not as popular as in previous years. One is that the logistics cost of imported fruit has increased due to the impact of the pandemic, and the price has risen several times, resulting in a decline in sales. Another reason is that the quality of domestic fruit is increased.

According to the survey, 57.3% of domestic consumers believe that domestic fruits have good brands and the quality is guaranteed; 56% of consumers believe that the quality of many domestic fruits has surpassed that of similar imported fruits. In particular, after China established the protection system for origin marks, domestic high-quality production areas have gradually risen. More and more products with geographical advantages have gradually been recognized by consumers.

As the world's largest producer of fruits, China has improved fruit hygiene and safety standards, product quality, and logistics facilities. More and more domestic fruits become popular among consumers. The export volume of China's fruits is also increasing, and it is in a more important position in the international fruit market.

The export market of China's fruits is not limited to neighboring Southeast Asian countries but also the United States, Europe, and Australia. Overseas markets have begun to tend to import fruits and related products from China, and China's domestic fruit has gradually become a new selling point in the international fruit market.
