Exports of peaches and nectarines will continue to grow as well

Record plum exports from Uzbekistan

Shipments of the first batches of plums of the new crop from Uzbekistan this season started on the 10th of May. Over the past three  months, the country has exported a record volume of plums compared to the same period in 2017-2021.

According to preliminary data by the Customs Committee of the Republic, Uzbekistan exported 44,000 tons of fresh plums from May 11 to August 10, 2022, 2.6 times more than in the same period last year and almost 30% more than the previous record volume in 2019.

According east-fruit.com, Uzbek plum export volumes this season show that the downward trend of 2017-2021 will be broken. The volume of plum exports in the first 3 months from the beginning of the 2022 season (from May 11 to August 10) exceeded the annual exports of 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021 by at least 44% and almost equals the total export volume of 2019, the previous record.

Peach and nectarine exports will continue to grow
The average wholesale price for peach and nectarine in Uzbekistan has decreased by 36% over the past two weeks and current prices are 30% below last year’s levels. Low prices and high yields are boosting exports.

From July 29 to August 12, 2022, the average wholesale price for peach/nectarine in Uzbekistan decreased from 11,000 to 7,000 UZS/kg (from $1.01 to $0.64), i.e. by 36% in two weeks. Meanwhile, the current average wholesale price is 30% lower than last year’s level. For comparison, the average wholesale price for peaches and nectarines as of August 12, 2021 was 10,000 UZS/kg ($0.94).
