The first Turkish Sultana grapes have arrived at Enes Groenten en Fruit in Venlo. According to Ercument Saka, people are desperate for the first Sultanas. "There is plenty of demand from supermarkets to wholesalers and market vendors, the telephone is ringing off the hook. I've already sold the first truck."
He is also very satisfied with the quality of the grapes. The quality, taste and sugar content of the grapes are good. The grapes are also beautifully yellow, this early in the season. That is promising for the rest of the season. We expect a better season than last year. "
"In addition, the harvest in Turkey went well. The fields are nicely mature and we have not been bothered by diseases and pests. Our supplier Hatipohlu is a top notch grower and we are the largest distributor of the Finike brand in the Netherlands," says Ercument.
The Sultana grape season runs through September. Enes receives several arrivals every week. Under its own brand Huser Fresh, Enes carries numerous Turkish products such as Sivri, Carli, Dolma, Kapya, Ucburn, White courgette, Mini cucumbers, Turkish aubergines, quinces, grapes, cherries, figs, melons and different types of pomegranates.
