"First air shipment of new season Peruvian products to China"

On the afternoon of Monday, 21 November, this year's first shipment of Peruvian horticultural products left for China; a milestone in bilateral trade relations, as reported by PromPerú to FreshPlaza. This shipment contained blueberries, grapes, mangoes, avocados and asparagus, among other Peruvian products, from companies such as Danper, ProAgro, Agrícola La Venta, Agrícola Chapi, Complejo Agroindustrial Beta, Camposol, HCQ Perú, Talsa, Santa Azul and Agrícola Athos, among others. Eduardo Ferreyros, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), confirmed that seven shipments have already been planned for this year.

The event was attended by the president of China Eastern Air Holding Company, Liu Shaoyong; the CEO of Eastern Air Logistics Co., Ltd, Li Jiupeng, and the Chief Marketing Officer of China Eastern Airlines Co., Ltd, Bo Dong. It also counted with the participation of high government officials, presidents and leaders of the main associations in the country.

Ferreyros highlighted that this achievement is the result of the talks held last September in the Asian country during the visit of Peruvian President, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski. It is worth noting that these shipments coincide with the visit that President Xi Jinping is currently paying to Peru.

"We are here at Peru's main airport, in front of this impressive China Eastern Airlines aircraft, to launch the line that will transport food from Peru to the great Chinese market, our main trading partner," said the Minister.

It is worth mentioning that, in late October this year, a partnership agreement was signed by Promperú, Mincetur, the Ministry of Transport and Communications and China Eastern Airlines. The main goal of this agreement is to connect Peru and mainland China with direct cargo, as well as to expand the supply of Peru's high quality products for the 1.4 billion Chinese consumers. The agreement featured cooperation commitments to allow the airline to support the marketing of Peruvian products and make it possible for these to be sold in the Chinese market.
