Senegalese melon campaign started

The first melons from Senegal arrived yesterday in France at Soldive. The melons grown in the African country are the yellow Charentais.

"The beginning of the production is very satisfying with brix levels between 12 and 16," explains Audrey Brizard from Soldive. "Senegalese production is very interesting because we manage to have a strong and very tasty melon. We distinguish ourselves with more than 80 aromas and flavors unlike the other types of melons."

With Christmas in sight the expectation is that the sales will go up. Although the competition is coming from South America with big melon volumes. The French company doesn't see a big threat as they have another variety.

The Senegalese campaign will last until the end of December.
