German cauliflowers available over a long period

“Currently the demand for cauliflower is constant and the availability is quite good,” states a German wholesaler. The mild weather of the previous weeks has had a positive effect on the German harvest. “Many farmer have extended the harvest until now, due to the higher temperatures,” says the expert.

Fluctuating prices
“Nobody has counted on that,” tells the trader. “Cauliflower prices easily fluctuate, if the supply is low then the prices immediately increase, and if the supply is high the prices drop. This means that the price developments for the coming weeks are difficult to predict.” Traders had to lower their prices due to the increased availability.

Consumption
Especially in the summer months the demand is quite high explains the trader. “Overall we can not complain about the demand. Cauliflower is a very popular vegetable in Germany. In other European countries the demand is getting less year after year.”

Products from the south
“Now that the weather is getting colder the availability of German cauliflower will noticeably drop.” According to the vegetable expert. “In the near future we expect fresh products from the Mediterranean area however the availability isn’t very good.”
