US(FL): Yellow squash prices lagging

The market for most squash varieties from Florida are doing well, though prices for yellow squash are slightly lagging.

Production is coming out of the central and southern parts of the state, though supplies from the central part are winding down. Quality has been good on account of favorable weather during the growing season and harvest. Sizes are good and uniform, and skin is clean. Though volumes have been good on all varieties, there is slightly more yellow squash available.

With steady volumes, the market for squash has been good. On account of there being slightly more yellow crooked neck, prices have been a little better on other varieties. On November 19, prices for a carton of small yellow straight neck squash were between $12.35 and $16.85, and prices for a carton of small yellow crooked neck were between $10.35 and $12.85. Prices for a carton of small zucchini were between $16.35 and $20.85.
