European Commission approves programs to promote EU agri products

The European Commission has approved 33 new programs to promote EU agricultural products. The programs cover a wide range of product categories, such as fresh fruit and vegetables.

The programs will contribute to opening up new markets and increasing the consumption of promoted products inside and outside the EU. Half of the money comes from the EU budget.

EU Commissioner Phil Hogan said: "I welcome these new programs, especially in the context of the recent market difficulties. Such programs are important for establishing new market opportunities, in particular for non-EU markets, and thereby help stimulate growth and jobs in the agri-food sector."
