First fruit exported to Russia via Erlian trade hub

On October 24, a batch of 50,5 tons tangerines was exported from China to Russia passing through the Erlian railway trade hub in Inner Mongolia for the first time. It was the opening of the new Erlian trade hub transportation route for fruit and vegetable export.

The Erlian trade hub is the largest highway-railway crossing at the border of China and Mongolia. It is an important economical node between China, Russia and Mongolia. Before the existence of the Erlian trade hub, only road transportation was used to export fruits and vegetables.

To ensure a smooth progress of this trade and to promote foreign trade development, the Erlianhaote Inspection and Quarantine Office will carry out fast sampling, high-speed detection and fast passing when products meet the required standards after testing. On the other hand, the office will actively provide relevant information, facilities and consultation to companies and ensure fast customs clearance.

The batch of tangerines came originally from Hunan and was transported by road to the Erlian trade hub. From there the batch was transported to Krasnoyarsk, Russia, by train. Exporting to Krasnoyarsk via the Erlian trade hub is 1200 kilometres shorter compared with the alternative export route via Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia. The new trade hub has substantial advantages regarding the duration and costs of transportation.
