Worldwide: Interpera Congress

Futurpera, is an event organised by Ferrara Fiere between 19 and 21 November 2015 to promote pear production.

Interpera 2015 will be organised as part of this event - it is the most important global convention dedicated to pear cultivation organised by Areflh in cooperation with the Region and the Board of Producers.

"This is the 8th edition and it has returned to Italy after five years. Next year, it will take place in South Africa and the US are candidates for 2017," explains Luciano Trentini, deputy president of Areflh and president of the Futurpera scientific committee."

On Wednesday 18 November, European experimental companies will meet to discuss research. Technicians and researchers from Italy, France, Spain and Belgium will meet to discuss the latest findings and the topics for future Horizon 2020 tenders.

"On Thursday 19 November, we will analyse the productive and marketing situation of the two hemispheres. Representatives from Opera and Origine Group will talk about marketing and, in the afternoon, we will consider new productive, logistics and phytosanitary barrier systems. We will also talk about the brown marmorated stink bug and the reduction of residues thanks to integrated techniques that have a lower environmental impact. Last but not least, we will assess consumption trends and discuss how European laws can help promote pears."

"On Friday 20th November, we will analyse European varieties and the new cultivars introduced to increase profits and consumption. Technological innovations in packaging and processing are essential to improve quality."

"Last but not least, there will be a round table to discuss the role of Interbranch organisations and their objective to define common strategies at a European level. A study on the importance of communication and environmental sustainability will also be presented."

"The event has been organised by Futurpera and Areflh to promote a sector that is worth over €300 million in Emilia Romagna alone."
