40 hectares, in particular cucumbers and bell peppers
BelOrta to expand number of greenhouses
Next year BelOrta will significantly expand it's number of greenhouses by adding at least 40 hectares worth. These new greenhouses will house bell peppers, cucumbers, asparagus and tomatoes. 20 hectares will be set aside for cucumbers, making cucumbers their biggest item. 15 hectares will be for bell peppers and the rest will be for tomatoes and asparagus. The expansion will be spread over seven producers from Belgium and the Netherlands. In addition to increasing their number of greenhouses, they will also be adding land for outdoor grown vegetables, in particular for beans, asparagus and zucchini. Director, Flip Fontaine, says he is proud of 'their' growers. "BelOrta growers are entrepreneurs," he tweets enthusiastically.
