German online trading: supplying online getting easier and easier
Almost half of online merchants in Germany provide delivery within 24 hours of ordering, this is advertised as the fastest delivery option, reports the German website Gabot.de. This was shown by a current study from the 'EHI Retail Institute.' The study further showed that 9% of the online merchants who were surveyed offered delivery the same day, which is called 'same day delivery'. On top of this, 26% of the merchants surveyed are planning to make 'same day delivery' an option within the next three years.
"Customers in online trading wish to become more and more comfortable in making online purchases. Many traders are responding to this by offering various options and solutions that the client may need," says Stephan Tromp, the deputy director of the 'Handelsverband Deutschland' (Trade Association of Germany).
Fast delivery is not the only new trend, the accuracy of the delivery time within the requested time slot is becoming increasingly important. According to the research, 30% of online merchants are introducing more and more delivery times. "Online purchases can now be delivered very quickly, but if the customer is not home when the delivery occurs, then this fast delivery doesn't do anything for them," says Tromp.
