November 17: truck drivers to hold a 72-hour strike
Spanish fruit and veg sector concerned about upcoming strike
The announcement that truck drivers are planning to hold a 72-hour strike on the 17th of November has caused worry in the Spanish fruit and vegetable sector, reports the federation of fruit and vegetable growers, Fepex. November is usually a great month for the fruit and vegetable sector. Last November the export quantity was around 1,265,378 tons. 95% of this export was transported on the ground and could not have taken place any earlier (or be delayed later) due to the nature of the products.
Fepex believes that due to the reoccurring crises in unfavourable conditions, the industry and horticulture sector will not withstand the losses that a road strike will cause.
