Argentina: Cold chamber will allow export of fresh blueberries
The governor of the province of Tucumán, José Alperovich, stressed the importance of the installation of the Cargo Terminal at the Benjamin Matienzo airport.
The governor added that, with the opening of the cold chamber, the price of a ton of exported blueberries will increase from 2,000 to 10,000 dollars.
"Exporting frozen blueberries, which are worth $2,000, isn't the same as exporting fresh fruit to the U.S. and Europe at a price of $ 10,000 a ton," he added.
Alperovich spoke about how the province would benefit once this modern system was enabled. Among the benefits, he stressed the importance of maintaining and further strengthening the employment of people working on the harvest.
