"Good demand for Dutch strawberries towards Christmas"

The supply of Dutch strawberries decreased somewhat during December. "The strawberries were planted slightly later this year and as a result many growers continue a little longer," Ton de Jong of Fruitmasters explains. Fruitmasters can, because of cultivation under light, supply Dutch strawberries almost all year round. "The demand for Dutch strawberries is very good."

"Traditionally there is a recovery towards Christmas, but because of the import product from Egypt and Morocco is disappointing, the market is very good. In the end the Dutch strawberries are regarded as the best," according to Ton. "Russia orders a lot, but the demand for Dutch strawberries from France, Italy, Greece and the local market is also good. These are really running away."
