Romance voted best tasting carrot 2012 at UK event

In early October, Nunhems variety Romance was awarded the “Best Tasting Carrot 2012” at the yearly field day of the British Carrot Grower Association. The event was hosted by Guy Poskitt, a 500 hectare carrot grower/packer in Kellington, United Kingdom, and counted with the presence of growers, supermarket representatives and other members of the carrot industry.

Next to knowledge sharing and demonstrations of the latest industry developments, the event featured a voting contest for the ‘best tasting carrot’. Visitors could choose from a total of 14 varieties from various carrot seed companies.

Roland Koets, International Sales Specialist, received the first prize of the competition on behalf of Nunhems: A bottle of 12 year old single malt whiskey. Koets expressed his honor and gratitude for the recognition, and passed all the credits for Romance on to the breeder of the variety, Robert Oostveen, and his team.
