No EU tarrif for fresh fruit big opportunity for Colombia

With 503 million inhabitants, the EU has almost three times more consumers than Mexico or Russia. Its GDP per capita is of USD 34,000, is four times more than the Colombian one and, as a bloc, is the largest importer in the world. Soon domestic products will be able to enter this great market with lower tariffs, thanks to the trade agreement that is about to come into force.

Once the agreement takes effect, the tariff for fresh fruits will go from 8.8 percent to zero, the EU imported USD 262.6 million in fresh fruit last year, of which 39.7 million was from Colombia, that would turn out to be an excellent opportunity.
