Israeli cultivation company start micro vegetable line

The Israeli cultivation company Teshuva Agricultural Projects (TAP) launch a new lettuce and herb variety under the name '2BFresh'. As part of the supply also so-called Micro-Greens, small leaves with an intensive taste, are available.

TAP use the micro-leaves of amarant, fennel, coriander, mustard plant, radish and sugar beet, all of which can be harvested after a few weeks. Other than lettuce sprouts the 'vegetable confetti' is not grown in water, but on soil or other mediums. Micro-Greens are said to be less susceptible to pathological bacteria, because of a good light supply and sufficient ventilation and humidity.
The Micro-Greens are smaller and more tender than baby lettuce and with a more intensive taste than lettuce sprouts. According to TAP they stay fresh for longer on the vegetable shelf and keep their natural intensive colour. In addition the small leaves are said to contain important nutrients and improve resistance. Micro-Greens can be used in salads, main meals and soups.
