Increase in multifunctional palletizers

To be competitive in a sector that counts every penny, good logistics are of the utmost importance. That is why companies that specialize in sorting and packaging are always finding new ways to speed up the process, mostly through the aid of machines. It’s these innovative businesses that producers of onions, potatoes and the like tend to seek out.

Symach in Terneuzen, Holland concentrates its commercial efforts on streamlining the process of wrapping, crating and transporting produce. The company supplies wrapping machines, pallet movers, internal transport systems and palletizers. A palletizer is a machine that provides automatic means for stacking cases of goods on to a pallet.

According to John de Bat, Symach’s director, few packaging companies don’t have access to a palletizer yet. In the Low Countries that is, the rest of the world is another matter. “That’s why we are in the process of expanding globally. We supply Russia, Eastern Europe, Israel, Australia and the US.”

New developments in the field are coming rapidly: “The process and the logistics are getting faster and faster,” says John, “and with the availability of new technology more and more smaller companies start working with them. The demand for multifunctional palletizers, that can tell the difference between crates, bags and boxes, is especially big.”
