Italy: Orange and lemon juices require a minimum of 20% fruit content to comply

The approval of an amendment to the decree of the Italian Ministry of Health mandates the presence of 20% fruit juice in soft drinks with citrus fruits, known as "aranciate" or "limonate", even with fantasy names. The drinks with a fruit juice quantity less than 20% may continue to be produced regularly and destined to foreign markets, for example Europe where the limit is lower, around 12%."

The beverages in compliance with the 20% will bear a logo of Italian quality of the product, stating that it is real orange juice or lemonade. Instead, drinks with fruit juice content less than 20% will no longer be called orange juice or lemonade, but "colored carbonated water with the taste of citrus."
