The state of Mato Grosso do Sul has land, soil and climate favorable to the development of fruit growing, mainly citrus. With an eye on this potential, Semadesc (Secretary for the Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation), through the Executive Secretary for Economic and Sustainable Development, is preparing the State Plan for Fruit Growing .
According to Semadesc agronomist Karla Nadai, responsible for the project, currently in the state fruit growing is still incipient , but already has isolated plantations. According to her, Mato Grosso do Sul has regions that produce guava, papaya, pineapple, avocado, mango, banana and citrus: “These are important regions that have been serving the surroundings of Campo Grande. but mainly we have production leaving the state and that does not go through the technical assistance of Agraer. some are assisted by Senar in the interior and others have private technical assistance.”
With favorable climate and soil, MS is preparing a State Plan to expand commercial fruit growing.
