Dutch company focuses on sorting, washing and packaging machine sales

"The market is ready for optical sorting"

This year is the Dutch company Remach's fifth anniversary. "We initially wanted to trade used machines. But after a few months, we decided to focus entirely on selling new sorting, washing, and packaging machines. We sell them for products like potatoes, onions, carrots, red beets, and other vegetables," Krijn van Groningen says.

Remach began operating from its new premises in October 2022. The machine supplier focuses on agricultural companies and industrial processors. "We work mainly in the Netherlands but increasingly receive orders from surrounding countries. Currently, we import for Pro-Vega, Haith, and Upmann. We also actively cooperate with Technature and Symach. This package of suppliers means we can serve our customers well."

What are the biggest sorting, washing, and packaging trends? "Optical sorting/reading is a hot topic. We're jumping on that because we've partnered with Technature. I'm sure optical sorting will increase in, say, the onion sector. Many optical sorters are being sold for potatoes. The market's ready for it," Krijn answers.

He says the agricultural sector is more than ready to invest in that. "Agricultural products are fetching good prices, leading many companies to invest. Automation is part of that. Often labor savings is the main reason for that."

And their plans for the next five years? "We're currently a five-person team, hiring temporary staff for various projects. We want to do more projects. That requires additional people. So, we should grow considerably in the next five years. That's not just a goal but a logical step," Krijn concludes.
