Variety innovation has become the main trend in the future

Peru's blueberry season starts early, overall exports increase steadily

China is the largest export market for Peruvian blueberries. This year, the Peruvian blueberry production season is ahead of schedule, the export volume has increased, and the price is generally stable. Imported blueberries are one of the main products of Guangzhou Wanxin International Trade Co., Ltd. Recently, FreshPlaza and Polaris Liu, the director of the company's foreign trade department, conducted conversations to understand the market performance of Peruvian blueberries this year.

"The Peruvian blueberry production season is nearly a month ahead of schedule this year, and the first shipment arrived in China in mid-to-late July, while last year's production season started in mid-August. The overall export volume of Peru has increased this year, and the shipments to China in the early stage have increased by about 20-30% compared with the same period last year. The overall quality is satisfactory. About 70% of the arrivals have good firmness. Most batches are covered with the bloom, but the taste of the previous batches was relatively sour. In addition, it is estimated that this year's production season will end one month earlier than last year. At present, due to the local weather, Peruvian production areas have reduced the number of blueberries exported to China. It is expected that this year's Peruvian blueberry production season will reduce shipments or even end around January.” Polaris gives an overview of the current Peruvian blueberry season.

"Affected by the local weather, the export of Peruvian blueberries may decline in the later stage this year, and some varieties this year will be smaller in size, and some varieties will be more sour in taste. This year's price is slightly lower than last year, but it is generally stable. On the other hand, due to the impact of the weather this year, the overall quality of China's domestic blueberries is rather poor. The domestic blueberry production season ended early, and the taste is not as good as in previous years due to heavy rainfall in the production area, thus reducing the impact on Peruvian blueberries. Therefore, even if the Peruvian blueberry season is brought forward, it has little impact on the sales of imported blueberries. "

There are many varieties of Peruvian blueberries. At present, the more common variety is "Ventura". This variety is large in size and relatively affordable in price but has a slightly sour taste. Polaris has noticed that there is a trend of updating varieties of Peruvian blueberries: "More and more brands are planting the variety "Sekoya Pop", which is characterized by large fruits, mostly 18-20mm in diameter, and a high sweetness in the taste, and is more suitable for the taste of the Chinese market. "

As the Peruvian blueberry season draws to a close, Chilean blueberries take over the market. Talking about the market performance of blueberries in the two origins, Polaris said: "In the past two years, the export volume and quality of Chilean blueberries have not been stable enough. This year, the export volume of Chilean blueberries has decreased by 8-10%. In contrast, Peruvian blueberries have a better market in China, and consumption volume in China is increasing year by year, and there will be always R&D in varieties according to market preferences. However, the Chilean blueberry industry needs to have a deeper understanding of the Chinese market and discover innovative varieties that can meet the needs of local consumers to the greatest extent.”

In addition to imported blueberries, Polaris is also very optimistic about the development of domestic blueberries: "Some varieties of domestic blueberries are of good quality and firm enough. At present, many foreign companies have cooperated with domestic blueberry bases to develop together. We will also develop more domestic blueberries, so that imported blueberries and domestic blueberries alternate with each other, which brings blueberries continue to be available throughout the year. "

Guangzhou Wanxin International Trade Co., Ltd. was established in 2012, mainly engaged in fruit import and export trade, wholesale and retail. Sales channels include wholesale market stalls, chain stores, large supermarkets, online e-commerce, and its own brand of beverage shop "Tiantian Daka". The company mainly deals in a variety of fruits, including blueberries, grapes, avocados, and cherries. In terms of domestically produced Shine Muscat grapes, it has its own brand "Fu" with several sub-brands and exports them to Southeast Asia and Europe.
