Togo pineapple production boosted 76% by EU project

A project backed by the European Union and Germany to help Togo's pineapple sector has seen major improvements in the last four years with a 76% boost in production over 4 years.

The PROCAT project, which came to an end, with funding of about €5.95 million aimed to increase production of pineapples. It also helped to create and sustain 5 000 jobs in the whole value chain.

Exports, processing of pineapples with 1 502 jobs for women are some of the outcomes of the project that continues to run.
