Uzbekistan exported more than 45,000 tons of persimmon in 10 months

Uzbekistan exported 45 600 tons of persimmons worth $27.3 million in January-October 2022, EastFruit reports with reference to uzdaily.uz.

Persimmon exports increased by 7 500 tonnes compared to the same period in 2021. Countries to which Uzbekistan exported the most persimmons in 10 months of 2022 are the following:

  • Russia – 26,200 tons
  • Kazakhstan – 15,300 tons
  • Kyrgyzstan – 2,000 tons
  • Turkmenistan– 1,300 tons
  • Belarus – 776 tons
  • Poland– 43 tons

Recall that EastFruit analysts have recently reported a sharp rise in the price of persimmons in Uzbekistan. Thus, there was a sharp increase in wholesale prices for persimmons. For example, the average purchase price for persimmons in October this year reached $0.30/kg, while they could be bought at $0.18/kg a year earlier. Rising prices for persimmons provoked increased demand from wholesalers, who are trying to store persimmons.

This year, the price rise was also facilitated by the fact that the persimmon ripening season in Central Asia has shifted to a later date. Read more about this in the article “Persimmon is getting more expensive in Uzbekistan – prices are 70% higher than last year.”
