Gulf of Taranto PGI clementines proposed by La Grande Bellezza Italiana

New packaging for Italian PGI clementines

With new sustainable packaging, La Grande Bellezza Italiana (LGBI) aims to further highlight the quality of its PGI clementines from the Gulf of Taranto.

"Our PGI clementines from the Gulf of Taranto have excellent taste, Brix value and acidity, as well as a remarkable aroma. These characteristics are all guaranteed by the specifications imposed by the consortium. This very old variety of clementines is grown on the Ionian coast and it is exactly there that all the qualities of the fruit are best expressed. It is the perfect combination between soil and climate on the one hand and an indigenous variety on the other," said Leonardo Odorizzi, member the business network LGBI.

The novelty of 2022 lies in the packaging. It is made of cardboard and PLA, so that the product is clearly visible. It comes in sizes of 1 and 1.5 kg. "This packaging is also a strategic choice. The 1.5 kg format aims to strike a nice balance between the cost price of packaging product, while for the price of the smaller format a coffee can be consumed. The initial purchase is probably made on the basis of the attractive packaging, but it is ultimately the quality that must meet the customer's expectations. Only the quality of the product can ensure repeat purchases. It is precisely on this combination, namely packaging and quality, that we base the success of our products."

"LGBI also aims to promote regional products to draw attention to the value of the growing area. Proper compensation for the grower is the basis of any sales campaign. We pursue this for all our typical products grown from northern to southern Italy," continued Odorizzi.

"Thanks to our experience and fine-grained organization throughout the country, we are able to distribute typical regional and high-quality products at home and abroad. We package our products in the growing area itself and we ship them directly to retailers. Only through a direct relationship with the distributor, without intermediary steps, is it possible to ensure that growers receive the right compensation," concluded Odorizzi.
