A large number of Nanguo pears picked and listed

As National Day approaches, Nanguo pears are ripe and ready for  picking. Compared with the period before the Mid-Autumn Festival, the price of Nanguo pears has dropped considerably.

In Anshan City, the main producing area of the pear, fruit farmers have entered the busiest picking season. The price of Nanguo pears has dropped by about one yuan per kg compared to that before the Mid-Autumn Festival. After a bumper harvest, the price of Nanguo pears usually shows a trend of a decrease every year. However, as the climate gradually turns cooler, the price is expected to rebound after the Nanguo pears are all picked.

Since a large number of Nanguo pears were picked after the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, consumers' enthusiasm for purchasing them decreased after the festival, resulting in a considerable decline in the price. At present, the price of medium-sized white Nanguo pears is between 4.4-5.0 yuan/kg, and the red fruit can reach about 6-8 yuan/kg. The price of large-sized white fruits is about 6 yuan/kg, and the red fruit can reach 9-10 yuan/kg.

Due to the heavy rain this year, the quality of pears in some production areas has also declined compared with previous years, but the sweetness of Nanguo pears is much better than that in early September. Although the rain was heavy in September this year, sometimes the temperature could reach about 30 degrees Celsius at the highest point. The continuous high temperatures led to poor development and the skin of the fruit taking on a yellow rust color, thus affecting the overall quality.

Some growers said that due to the influence of the typhoon a few days ago, it rained for several days. As most of the Nanguo pear wholesale markets are open-air markets, there is no way to set up stalls, and a large backlog of ripe Nanguo pears cannot be sold. On the rainy days, Nanguo pears got their best timing for sales. However, they were not sold in time and were halted excessively, which affected the local sales. Although the sales volume was affected, it still attracted many consumers to come to buy due to the affordable price.

Merchants expect that the price of Nanguo pear will rise around National Day, although the current price is low.
