The overall yield was greatly reduced

With high temperatures and drought for nearly 3 months, drop in citrus production is a foregone conclusion

This year, the fruit expansion period and the critical period of the autumn shoot of citrus encountered continuous high-temperature weather, resulting in sunburn of the fruit, and various production areas experienced different yield reductions. According to incomplete statistics, the continuous drought has affected nearly 10,000 hectares of the citrus industry in Zigui, Hubei. The 2666 hectares of citrus in Guandukou Town, Badong County, Hubei Province is facing the risk of no harvest, about 5333 hectares of citrus in Jingyan County in Sichuan Province have been reduced, and Chenggu County in Shaanxi Province is also expected to reduce citrus production this year by 20-30%.

The overall yield of Chunjian and Tangerines was greatly reduced
China is also experiencing the most severe drought and extreme heat period since national records began in 1961. Most areas are experiencing high temperatures and dry weather of varying degrees. The high-temperature event lasted for nearly 3 months. The middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Sichuan-Chongqing region were affected by the summer drought in a wide range and strong intensity.

Meishan and Pujiang in Sichuan are the main producing areas of citrus varieties such as Chunjian and Aiyuan. On the basis of the limited production this year, they were affected by the high temperature for nearly two consecutive months. According to the investigation by relevant institutions, the sunburn of new fruit in the main producing area is more obvious, and the damage to the orchards on the mountain is obviously more serious than that of the foot of the mountain. The direct impact is that the high temperature causes the fruit to stop expanding. At present, the size of the Chunjian is significantly smaller than that of previous years, and the overall yield is greatly reduced.

Sugar tangerine is also influenced. It is understood that there is a certain degree of yield reduction in sugar tangerine, Chunjian, Aiyuan, and Orah mandarin. Since the fruit of sugar tangerine is smaller, it can be blocked by leaves, and the production reduction may be relatively smaller, but the overall production reduction is still there.

For citrus, sunburn is common due to continuous high-temperature weather, the fruit size is too small, and the commodity rate declined seriously. It is still necessary to pay attention to the later weather conditions, not only limited to high temperatures, but also the phenomenon of fruit cracking caused by sudden rainfall after continuous high temperature.
