Growers say trucks have been halted for 2-3 days

Growers facing hurdles in transporting apples outside Kashmir Valley

Fruit growers all over Kashmir are worried about the hurdles they are facing with regard to the transportation of apples to outside markets. Growers have stated that some have started sending their apple consignments to different markets, but trucks loaded with fruit are allowed to move towards Jammu for only two to three hours on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

It seems that trucks have remained stuck in the Qazigund area for two to three days, causing huge economic losses due to the fruit spoiling. They requested LG led administration to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard so that they would not suffer anymore.

President of Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers cum Dealers Union, which is an elected apex body of all Fruit Growers Associations in the Valley, Basheer Ahmad Basheer told KNO that they have written to LG in this regard and are waiting for his positive response.
