Somerset road made accessible again after mud and potato landslide

The A358 in Combe Florey, near Taunton, was closed earlier in the week after stormy conditions caused soil to wash off an adjoining potato field. Some 100 tons of mud and potatoes washed into it, in a landslide.

According to Somerset councillor Mike Rigby, the mudslide caused 'huge problems'. He added that there needed to be changes in the management of nearby land. On August 16, a mudslide happened at the same location. Somerset County Council had a highways team at the scene removing the mud and potatoes.

The A358 has now re-opened
